A pile of leaves worth jumping in. An acorn wearing a tiny hat. A scarecrow who is clearly not frightening anybody. Autumn is the easiest season to colour — everything is round, warm and a bit cosy, and the palette is four colours a child can reach without thinking.

Why Autumn Works So Well on Paper

Leaves, pumpkins, acorns and apples are all simple closed shapes with generous middles. That makes them forgiving for a child still learning to stay near a line, and satisfying for one who already can.

The colour choices are easy too. A four-year-old who freezes when handed twenty crayons will happily pick up red, orange, yellow and brown and get straight on with it. Fewer decisions, more colouring.

Autumn Pages by What You Need

  • Bold and easy cosy scenes — thick outlines, big shapes, nothing fiddly. Good for toddlers and for anyone who wants a calm twenty minutes.
  • Dot-to-dot autumn — counting practice that produces a leaf or an acorn at the end, so the numbers feel like a means rather than a task.
  • Apples and harvest — doubles as a back-to-school theme in September.
  • Leaf shapes — genuinely useful alongside a nature walk, where children can match what they collected to what they coloured.

Taking It Off the Page

Autumn is the one season where the colouring and the outdoors line up neatly. A few things that work:

Collect, then colour. Gather leaves on a walk, bring them home, and colour a leaf page while the real ones dry on the windowsill.

Match the colours. Ask which crayon is closest to the leaf they found. It turns colour naming into a real comparison rather than a quiz.

Make it a window display. Autumn pages look genuinely good taped to glass with the light behind them, and children take the job seriously.

How to Print These Fall Coloring Pages

Every page is a free PDF formatted for US Letter and A4 at 300 dpi. Click any thumbnail to open it, then print.

Standard paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils. If you plan to cut the leaves out and hang them, slightly heavier stock holds its shape far better.

Questions Parents and Teachers Ask

What age are fall colouring pages for? The bold and easy sets work from about two; the dot-to-dot autumn pages suit four to eight. Both bands are covered in the toddler and kindergarten collections.

When is the best time to print these? Late September through November. Once October arrives the Halloween pages take over, and Thanksgiving follows on.

Are these free for classroom use? Yes — free for personal, classroom and homeschool use. See the licensing policy.

Do you have autumn pages with a learning task? Yes. The dot-to-dot sets carry counting, and several apple and harvest pages work alongside early science about seasons and trees.
