Cute, Not Creepy

Most Halloween colouring pages are drawn for older kids: cobwebs, gravestones, things with teeth. That is fine at nine and completely wrong at four.

Ours are drawn friendly. Pumpkins have faces you would want to meet. Monsters are round rather than spiky. Bats look pleased with themselves. A three-year-old can enjoy the whole set without anyone having to explain that it is only pretend.

Halloween Pages That Sneak in Some Learning

  • Colour by number pumpkins — number recognition wrapped in a jack-o’-lantern.
  • Halloween multiplication — times tables that produce a picture, for children who resist a worksheet but will happily finish a puzzle.
  • Shape monsters — every monster is built from circles, triangles and squares. Naming the shapes is optional and usually happens anyway.
  • Pumpkin life cycle — seed to vine to pumpkin, which turns a costume holiday into a small science lesson.

Using These at a Party or in Class

A calm corner at a party. Ten minutes of colouring resets a room full of over-excited children better than almost anything else.

The week before. Something to do with the anticipation, and it keeps small hands busy while you deal with costumes.

Classroom parties. Print a stack — the pages need no setup and no explanation, and they work for a mixed-age group.

Trick-or-treat alternative. For families who skip the door-knocking, an evening of pumpkins and hot chocolate does the job.

How to Print These Halloween Coloring Pages

Every page is a free PDF formatted for US Letter and A4 at 300 dpi, so it prints sharp on a home or classroom printer. Click any thumbnail to open the PDF, then print.

Black and white at draft quality is fine for class sets — the line work is drawn to hold up. Orange and black card stock makes the finished pages look far better on a wall than copier paper.

Questions Parents and Teachers Ask

Are these too scary for a preschooler? No. Everything in this collection is drawn friendly rather than spooky, which is deliberate. If you want something with no Halloween theme at all, the preschool pages have plenty of alternatives.

What age are Halloween colouring pages for? The simplest pumpkins work from about two. The colour by number and multiplication sets suit five to nine. The teens and tweens pages have more detailed options for older children.

Can I print these for a school party? Yes — free for personal, classroom and homeschool use. See the licensing policy.

When should I start printing? Most families begin around the middle of October. Pumpkin and autumn pages work from late September, and the fall collection carries you through until then.
