Math Coloring Pages: 335 Free Printable PDFs

A rocket where the numbers on the panels decide the colours. A pizza cut into eighths that has to be shared properly. A monster built entirely from triangles. Maths colouring works because the picture only appears if the sums are right — which turns checking your work into something a child does voluntarily.

Below are 24 pages from our maths collections, with links to all 335 further down. Every page is a free PDF — click a thumbnail to open and print.

Why This Works on Children Who Hate Worksheets

A worksheet says: do twenty sums, and I will tell you how many you got wrong. A colour by number says: do twenty sums, and a dragon appears.

Mechanically it is the same practice. What changes is the feedback. A wrong answer produces a patch of the wrong colour, which the child notices themselves and fixes without anybody marking anything. For children who have started to dread maths, that difference is not small.

What Each Set Covers

  • Counting and number recognition — the earliest sets, matching a numeral to a quantity. From about four.
  • Addition and subtraction — colour by number where the key is a sum rather than a digit. Five to eight.
  • Multiplication — times tables that produce a picture. Seven to ten, and the set most likely to be requested again.
  • Fractions — halves, quarters and eighths shown as things children already share: pizzas, cakes, chocolate bars.
  • Shapes and geometry — squares, triangles, hexagons and symmetry, built into pictures rather than listed on a page.

Using These Without Making It a Lesson

Let them choose. Offer three pages and let the child pick. The sense of choosing is most of the difference between an activity and an assignment.

Do not mark it. The page corrects itself. Pointing out the wrong-coloured square converts it straight back into a test.

Pitch it slightly easy. A page one step below their current level gets finished and enjoyed. A page at the edge of their ability gets abandoned, and the maths gets the blame.

Use it after school, not instead of homework. These work best as the thing that happens when the demanding work is already done.

How to Print These Math Coloring Pages

Every page is a free PDF formatted for US Letter and A4 at 300 dpi. Click any thumbnail to open and print.

Check the number key has printed legibly before running a class set — it is the one part of the page that has to be readable, and draft quality can blur small digits.

Questions Parents and Teachers Ask

What age are maths colouring pages for? Counting sets from four, addition and subtraction from five, multiplication from seven. The kindergarten and early elementary collections are sorted by age if you would rather browse that way.

Does this actually help with maths? It provides repetition of facts a child already half-knows, in a form they will do willingly. It will not teach a concept from scratch — that still needs explaining. It is practice, not instruction.

My child gets frustrated halfway through. Almost always a difficulty mismatch. Drop one level and it usually resolves.

Can I print these for a classroom? Yes — free for personal, classroom and homeschool use. See the licensing policy.
