Cute, Not Creepy
Most Halloween colouring pages are drawn for older kids: cobwebs, gravestones, things with teeth. That is fine at nine and completely wrong at four.
Ours are drawn friendly. Pumpkins have faces you would want to meet. Monsters are round rather than spiky. Bats look pleased with themselves. A three-year-old can enjoy the whole set without anyone having to explain that it is only pretend.
Halloween Pages That Sneak in Some Learning
- Colour by number pumpkins — number recognition wrapped in a jack-o’-lantern.
- Halloween multiplication — times tables that produce a picture, for children who resist a worksheet but will happily finish a puzzle.
